The loss-ridden aviation sector sees passenger growth in the otherwise weak season on the back of capacity addition and fare discounts. As per the aviation's body DGCA released data, during the month passenger traffic got a boost of 21% YoY to as many as 1.16 crore. The numbers throw a better picture in comparison to the holiday season during the May-June period.

In the list, the top share is held by the no-frill air carrier Indigo operated and run by parent company Interglobe Aviation that registered a passenger growth of 31.5%. In contrast, the passenger growth at other airlines remained weaker with 11% for Air India, 4.2% for Jet Airways which off late deferred its financial results and Spicejet at 5.1%.
In line, the market share of Indigo increased to 42% while for other companies remained more or less stable.
On the passenger load factor, nearly all of the company ramped up their capacity utilization and Spicejet commands the highest PDF of 93.8%.
