The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru is set to become the first Indian airport to have complete solutions for paperless travel. Flight from this airport will soon not require a boarding pass.

The operator of the airport, that is, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said in a statement that it has signed an agreement with Vision-Box on Wednesday in Lisbon, Portugal to launch a paperless self-boarding technology that uses biometrics. The implementation of it will be completed in the first quarter of the year 2019 it said. Passengers of Jet Airways, Air Asia and SpiceJet airlines will be the first users.
The technology from Vision-Box will enable the airport to be future ready and will further help the government's Digit IndiaProject. The goal of the agreement is to make the process of registration to boarding of the flight at the Bengaluru Airport, paperless. It will also make the journey seamless without the need to wait in lines to show boarding passes, passport, and other physical documents.
"This is the first end-to-end face recognition-based walkthrough experience in Asia and the largest in the world," Vision-Box CEO Miguel Leitmann said.
