Most of the banks will be closed for an extended period during Diwali week. However, the banking holiday calendar varies across geographies. In the state of Maharashtra, banks will remain closed on November 7 being Diwali, 8, 10 and 11. Axis bank branches in the state of Karnataka and Maharashtra too will remain shut on the aforesaid days. While in Kerala, Axis Bank branches will be closed only for November 6.

In the case of Yes Bank, branches in Northern Indian will be open on November 8 while in Maharashtra Yes bank will remain closed on November 7 and 8.
In Mumbai, banks will open on November 9 followed by two consecutive holidays on November 7 and 8. It is to be noted that ATMs will be replenished on a continuous basis and so individuals who use cash for shopping will not face any dilemma during festive shopping.
Nonetheless, individuals who have EMIs that get automatically debited from their bank accounts need to make prior arrangements such that payments on due date are not missed. Also, employees who are given salary via cash or individuals who wish to deposit cash may face some problem during the extended holiday week.
