Hospitality firm OYO on 15 November announced the appointment of Adithya Ghosh as the new CEO of OYO Hotels, India and South Asia. Ghosh earlier served as the president and whole time director at IndiGo, where he was responsible for turning the airline business profitable. He quit his position at the airlines in July this year.

Ghosh will join OYO Hotels on 1 December and will be reporting to founder and OYO group CEO, Ritesh Agarwal. The hospitality firm has a presence in over 500 cities across seven countries including Indonesia and the UK. It has over 12,000 franchised and leased hotels with more than 3.3 lakh rooms. The new appointment comes a month after the firm raised $800 million in a round that was led by its existing investor SoftBank. It is looking at accelerating growth in India and China.
"His business acumen, his problem-solving capabilities, and his customer-centric approach to innovation that helped him build an influential brand that is loved by all, makes him an excellent choice for OYO Hotels," Ritesh Agarwal said.
Ghosh has 21 years of experience and was responsible for launching IndiGo's international operations. He also started the 'before time departure' concept at the airlines.
