While less than half of India's adult population was employed as of October 2018, (39.5 percent as per Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE)), software technologies and new digital technology companies have increased salaries of their employees, especially of those in the top management level.
Employment-based social networking website, LinkedIn, recently conducted a study on the salaries in India. The study revealed that the highest paid titles are Chief Operating Officer (CEO), director of engineering, executive director, vice president of sales and senior program manager.

The social network with over 50 million users through its salary insight tool to not only found the highest paying jobs but the concentration of such jobs in various cities of India. Here is a list of the top 5 cities where professionals get paid the most:

5. Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Rs 6.3 lakh per year
4. Hyderabad, Telangana: Rs 8.5 lakh per year
3. Mumbai, Maharashtra: Rs 9 lakh per year
2. Delhi-NCR: Rs 9 lakh per year
1. Bengaluru, Karnataka: Rs 12 lakh per year
Earlier this year in April, a study by Randstad India also named Bengaluru as the highest paying city in India at an annual average salary of Rs 10.8 lakh, while Pune won the second spot at Rs 10.3 lakh.
