Forbes India magazine released its annual celebrity rich-list for the year 2018 on Wednesday and Indian film star Salman Khan has managed to top the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List for the third consecutive year. This year, however, sportspersons are seen challenging the list that is usually dominated by actors.
A total of 18 female celebrities including Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif, PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal made it to the list as compared to 21 last year. Priyanka Chopra slipped from the seventh position (2017) to 49 in 2018 earning Rs 18 crore.
Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan loses his position as the second highest earning celebrity in 2017 to slump to 13th position this year. Despite not releasing a single movie so far in the current year, he has been the face of several brands.
The list for 2018 also names 15 celebrities from the South Indian film industry. It includes seven actors each from Tamil and Telegu industry and one from Kerala.
The period under consideration for the earnings is 1 October 2017 to 30 September 2018. The cumulative earnings of all the celebrities this year amounted to Rs 3,140.25 crore, which is 17 percent higher than last year's Rs 2,683 crore.
