Sensex Rallies Over 400 Points On F&O Expiry

In the late afternoon trade on Thursday, benchmark indices made remarkable gains, Nifty and Sensex both rallied over 1% to close at 11582.55 with gains of 137.5 (+1.20%)

and 38545.72 or +1.08%, respectively.

The gains have been primarily led by banking stocks, with the Nifty Bank again hitting a new high. Bank Nifty, today hit another high of 30,451, rising over 1%. Bank of Baroda surged 6%, SBI rose 2.5% while ICICI Bank and RBL Bank gained nearly 2% each.

The gains in the BOB stock came on the fund infusion news. Also, DHFL shares surged in trade today by as much as 10% after a leading business daily citing sources reported that Piramal Group and Baring PE are in talks to buy a stake in the company.

IT sector has emerged as another pack gaining in session today.

Also, the stock of Titan hit a new milestone with a market cap of over Rs. 1 lakh crore.

Rupee also lost 0.159% and was trading at 68.98 per US dollar.
