After Jet Airways grounding though Indigo managed to garner major advantage, the Indian aviation industry at large is at a lot of trouble. And this has been revealed in the latest data pointed out by aviation ministry. The month of April has witnessed the steepest fall in six years of 4.5% registering passenger traffic of just 109.95 lakh flyers.

Notable, for 52 months in a row, the airline industry commanded passenger traffic growth in double-digits but due to fresh troubles springing up for the debt-laden Jet Airways, the rise was just 9.1% in January this year. Also, other airlines such as the likes of Indigo were hit due to a shortage of pilots.

There is capacity deficit which is now being overcome to an extent as other airlines such as Spicejet are on the grabs of Jet Airways slot and taking the carrier's grounded fleet on lease.

Also, data revealed an interesting fact on the punctuality of airlines, and of all the airlines, the grounded Jet Airways scored more than Spicejet and Air India. Further, on the benchmark, GoAir topped with an on-time performance of 96.3 per cent for four metro airports.
