Indian Railways, national transporter, which already has been employing head on generation (HOG) technology for some of its trains, will now deploy the technology for all of its premium trains to save on costs as well as provide more and more seats to its customers, said a leading business dailies report.

HOG technology used in case of Hamsafar Express
In the current scenario, Hamsafar Express connecting Bandra and Saharsa makes use of this technology and from its to and fro run, the train will be able to provide savings of 5000 litre of diesel.
HOG estimated to save diesel worth Rs. 6000 crores.
And on its line, as part of its 100 day action plan, Indian Railways will harness this technology on all of its premium trains, which will let the carrier save millions of volume of diesel on an annual basis.
So, as per estimates, the carrier will be able to save fuel worth Rs. 6000 crores.
Confirm tickets to passengers
So, as the power to the train coaches will be supplied through the use of HOG technology, the power cars will become obsolete and thus in its place normal coaches can be incorporated. It is to be noted that AC trains normally carry 2 power cars. So, after the two power cars are removed and two normal coaches are put in its place, a train will have an additional capacity of 140 seats. Hence, if HOG technology is deployed in all of the premium trains, 4 lakh additional seats will be made available on a per day basis.
