In close to three years of the launch of its commercial operations, Reliance Jio managed to become the country's largest telecom player with a subscriber base of 331.3 million.

In May, TRIA data showed that Jio overtook Bharati Airtel to become the country second largest telecom operator with a user base of 332.9 million (27.8 percent market share) while the latter had 320.38 million users (27.6 market share).
Financial results of the Reliance Industries Limited, released last week, showed that its subsidiary Reliance Jio had a subscriber base of 331.3 million at the end of June 2019.
Further, Vodafone Idea's first quarter results on Friday reported a decline in its customer base to 320 million for the period under review from the earlier 334.1 million seen in the March-ended quarter.
"Our subscriber base declined to 320.0 million from 334.1 million in fourth quarter of financial year 2019 primarily due to customer churn following the introduction of 'service validity vouchers' in the prior quarters," it said in a statement.
Following the merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, Vodafone Idea had emerged as the largest telecom operator in the country with over 400 million subscribers. However, it continued to lose subscribers and had to write off millions of customers who did not subscribe to its minimum recharge plan.
