Addressing the media on Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir's Governor Satyapal Malik said that 50,000 job vacancies in the region's administration will be announced by the government in the coming 2-3 months.
"In the coming 2-3 months, 50,000 government jobs will be declared, and we urge the youth to apply and we will fill these positions," Malik said in Srinagar.

The bifurcation plan of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is underway and is scheduled to be implemented by 31 October. A major challenge for the government since stripping the region's special status is to instil faith in the residents and it is attempting to do so with the promise of job creation.
The governor also said that the identity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be preserved and stressed that the situation in the state is under control.
He assured that there has been no loss of life and property in the region after the removal of Article 370 and Article 35A. Malik said that while landlines have been opened across most areas, mobile services will be made accessible as the situation improves. Internet access will be deferred due to danger of its misuse, he said.
It is his first press conference after the Centre's move on 5 August to remove Article 370.
He also said that improvements will be made in the education environment in the region. While the situation had been normalized in Ladakh, education institutions are being reopened in Jammu & Kashmir.
