IRCTC To Levy Service Charge Again On E-Bookings From September 1
As per the August 30 issued order, IRCTC with effect from September 1 will again levy service charge on e-ticket bookings. For non-AC class, the fare would go up by Rs. 15 while for AC class booking, the increment will be by Rs. 30.

The GST will also be levied separately as earlier. In the earlier regime, when the service charge was waived off to boost digital payments mechanism, a charge of Rs. 20 was applicable in case of non-AC tickets and Rs. 40 for AC class tickets.
In a letter dated August 30, the Board had said the IRCTC, railways ticketing and tourism arm, had made a "detailed case" for the restoration of service charge on booking of e-ticket and the matter has been examined by the "competent authority".
After the waiver, the Indian railways saw a decline in revenue generation from ticket booking by 26% in the FY 2016-17.
