Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has reduced the price of its 4G feature phone - JioPhone, by more than half from Rs 1,500 to Rs 699 as part of a limited period Diwali offer.

The telecom operator is aiming to get more subscribers and migrate them from their current 2G or 3G to 4G technology.
The offer price is even lower than many 2G feature phones in the market, said Jio in a statement. It has already sold 7 crore JioPhone handsets, it added.
Customers who avail Jio's Diwali offer will get:
- Additional data benefits worth Rs 700.
- For the first seven recharges by the customer, Jio will offer Rs 99 worth of data.
- The offer is available from 4 October to 28 October.
Jio brought tough competition into the price-sensitive handset market with its introduction of a cheap 4G handset JioPhone in 2017 that came with a refundable deposit of Rs 1,500.
In July 2018, RIL announced the upgraded version called the JioPhone2 at an introductory price of Rs 2,999 with an option to exchange an old feature phone for a new Jio Phone by paying just Rs 501.
