The Karnataka government has allowed the release of additional arrears of dearness allowance (DA) for its state government employees and pensioners, which had been suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic's predicament. The state administration has also increased the allowance from 11.25 percent to 21.5 percent, according to sources.

Furthermore, with effect from July 1, 2021, the government has risen the percentages of dearness allowance for state government pensioners or family pensioners and pensioners or family pensioners of abetted educational establishments whose pension or family pension is compensated out of the consolidated fund of the state from 11.25 percent to 21.50 percent of the basic pension or family pension, according to the report of India TV.
The report has also claimed that the directives will pertain to permanent government employees, zilla panchayat employees, full-time employees of assisted educational establishments, and full-time employees of universities on standard time schedules of pay, according to the ministry. Employees covered by the Karnataka Daily Wage Employees Welfare Act, 2012; employees of Boards, Corporations, Local Bodies, and employees of government or autonomous institutions under the control of the state government whose dearness allowance order is regulated by the state government in this regard may be subject to revision, according to the report.

Accordingly, the rates of dearness allowance payable to the state government employees in the 2018 revised pay scales shall be revised from the existing 11.25 per cent to 21.50 per cent of basic pay with effect from July 1, 2021," according to the sources.
