Adani Green Energy, India's largest renewable energy company, on Monday achieved a significant milestone with the operationalization of 1,000 MW (1 GW) of solar energy capacity at the Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat. This accomplishment represents the fastest greenfield solar capacity addition in India's renewable sector and underscores Adani Green Energy's commitment to accelerating the country's transition to clean energy.
The completion of this phase of the Khavda project aligns with Adani Green Energy's ambitious plan to develop a total of 30,000 MW (30 GW) of renewable energy capacity at the site over the next five years. Leveraging innovative technology and streamlined project execution, Adani Green Energy delivered 1,000 MW in less than 12 months of commencing work at Khavda, emphasising its dedication to supporting India's goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Spanning a staggering 538 square kilometres of barren land, the Khavda renewable energy park is hailed as the world's largest of its kind, with a capacity of 30 GW upon completion. The project is expected to create over 15,200 green jobs, contributing significantly to employment opportunities in the region and driving economic growth.
Adani Green Energy's commitment to sustainability is evident in its innovative approach to project development. The entire plant at Khavda will be covered with waterless robotic module cleaning systems, addressing dust accumulation on panels to increase energy output and conserve water resources in the arid Kutch region. This initiative aligns with the company's water neutrality goals and supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.
The energy generated from the operationalized capacity at Khavda is projected to be substantial, with an estimated output of around 81 billion units annually. This energy output has the potential to power over 16 million homes in India each year, demonstrating the significant impact of renewable energy on addressing the country's growing energy needs.
Adani Green Energy's success at Khavda is a testament to its sustainable progress and unwavering resolve to accelerate India's clean energy transition. By enhancing social and natural capital in the region, Adani Green Energy is not only driving environmental stewardship but also contributing to economic development and community well-being.
The company is poised to replicate its success at Khavda in other ventures, leveraging its proven project execution capabilities and technological expertise. With its commitment to innovation and sustainability, Adani Green Energy continues to lead the way towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future for India and the world.
