Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the second Vande Bharat Express on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central route, offering enhanced travel experience with air-conditioned chair cars and executive coaches, covering the distance in less than 6 hours.
The bustling Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central route is set to witness the introduction of a second Vande Bharat Express, a semi high-speed luxurious train, on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off the inaugural run of the train through video conferencing at 9 am.

Key Details and Features
The Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express will boast air-conditioned chair cars and executive chair coaches, ensuring a comfortable and convenient journey for passengers. The train will cover the distance of over 500 kilometers between the two cities in less than 6 hours, significantly reducing travel time.
This will be the second Vande Bharat Express between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, with the first one having been launched in 2022. Currently, five Vande Bharat trains, equipped with world-class passenger amenities and advanced safety features, are operational on the Western Railway (WR) network.
Schedule and Stoppages
The new Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, except on Sundays. It will make halts at key stations, including Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, and Borivali in suburban Mumbai, in both directions.
The train will depart from Ahmedabad at 6:10 am and arrive at Mumbai Central at 11:35 am. In the return direction, it will depart from Mumbai Central at 3:55 pm and reach Ahmedabad at 9:25 pm.
Existing Vande Bharat Express
The existing Vande Bharat Express that operates on the Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar route has been immensely popular, with an impressive occupancy rate of 136% in the morning departure from Mumbai Central and 141% in the return direction.
Other Vande Bharat Express Trains on WR Network
In addition to the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express, four other Vande Bharat Express trains are currently operational on the WR network. These include the Ahmedabad Sabarmati-Jodhpur, Ahmedabad-Jamnagar, Indore-Bhopal-Nagpur, and Udaipur-Jaipur routes.
The introduction of the second Vande Bharat Express on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central route is a significant development that will further enhance connectivity and provide passengers with a faster, more comfortable, and safer travel experience. This addition to the WR network underscores the government's commitment to modernizing and upgrading the country's railway infrastructure.
