To address Bengaluru's notorious traffic issues, the Bengaluru Traffic Police is gearing up to launch a pioneering super-app, ASTraM (Actionable Intelligence for Sustainable Traffic Management), aimed at providing commuters with real-time, actionable traffic solutions. As per a report from Deccan Herald, this app, expected to be available within the next few months, is currently under development.
The ASTraM app is set to serve as a one-stop platform, bringing together critical traffic information in real time to enable smoother commutes across Bengaluru. Designed to tackle the city's ever-growing traffic challenges, the app will deliver timely updates on traffic congestion within a 5-kilometre radius, accident alerts, and even provide an interface for reporting incidents.
Key Features of ASTraM
ASTraM's functionality extends far beyond the traditional traffic alert systems found on existing navigation apps. This platform is crafted to unify all traffic-related services in a single interface, setting it apart from other apps that rely on multiple data sources. Among its standout features, ASTraM allows users to anonymously report accidents or traffic violations by submitting images, ensuring quick alerts without disclosing personal information.
For commuters often stuck in gridlock, the app's real-time updates on congestion are expected to be invaluable, helping them plan alternative routes to avoid high-traffic areas. Additionally, ASTraM integrates a system for users to view and settle traffic fines directly within the app, eliminating the need for multiple navigation or payment tools. This integration of services simplifies the experience for commuters, reducing reliance on third-party apps or social media updates to stay informed.
M. N. Anucheth, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), expressed confidence in ASTraM's ability to redefine the way traffic is managed in Bengaluru. By consolidating multiple services and features into a single user-friendly interface, ASTraM aims to improve the overall experience for users and bring much-needed efficiency to Bengaluru's traffic landscape. The app will not only support commuters but also provide the traffic police with enhanced tools for real-time incident management and reporting.
Currently, the app's operational version is available exclusively to traffic officers; however, the forthcoming public release promises to make this dynamic platform accessible to everyone. Once launched, ASTraM could dramatically improve the interaction between Bengaluru's traffic police and the city's road users, ultimately consolidating the fragmented traffic information into one cohesive tool. Designed to replace the need for multiple apps or online platforms, ASTraM could soon become the go-to resource for Bengaluru commuters.
