An update on the official acceptance of Rs 2000 banknotes has been given by e-commerce behemoth Amazon. According to Amazon's FAQ on "using Rs. 2,000 notes for Cash on Delivery (COD) Payments and Cashloads," the e-commerce company has announced that as of September 19, it would no longer accept Rs 2000 currency notes as cash in accordance with the directions issued by the Reserve Bank of India on May 19, 2023.
"Amazon is currently accepting Rs. 2,000 currency notes. However, from September 19, 2023, we will not be accepting Rs. 2,000 currency notes for cashloads or Cash on Delivery (COD) payments for orders Fulfilled by Amazon. However, if your product is delivered through a third-party courier partner, their own policies around the acceptance of Rs. 2,000 currency notes will apply," said the e-commerce behemoth on its FAQ page.

"You can pay the entire order value using Rs. 2,000 currency notes. However, starting September 19, we will no longer accept payments through Rs. 2,000 currency notes. Note: There are Cash on Delivery (COD) limits added at the cart-level. Please check this on the product detail page before placing the order," Amazon has mentioned on its website.
You can exchange any remaining Rs. 2000 notes at the nearest bank spot. The opportunity for the public to deposit and/or exchange Rs 2000 banknotes will be readily available till September 30, 2023, according to a press statement from the RBI that was published on May 19, 2023. All banks are allowing the option of exchanging Rs. 2000 banknotes to the general public through their branches.
