Apple Inc. is poised to expand its presence in India, with plans to escalate production and create employment opportunities for approximately 500,000 individuals over the next three years.
This ambitious initiative marks a substantial boost to the current workforce of 150,000 Apple employees in the country, the majority of whom are employed through its two plants managed by Tata Electronics.

Apple is accelerating its hiring efforts in India, with projections indicating a five-fold increase in production aimed at reaching approximately USD 40 billion within the next four to five years.
This strategic expansion follows a successful year for Apple in 2023, during which it achieved its highest revenue figures in India for the first time, as reported by Counterpoint Research, according to sources News Agency.
Apple has witnessed a remarkable surge in iPhone exports from India, doubling from USD 6.27 billion in the previous fiscal year to USD 12.1 billion in the fiscal year 2023-24, as revealed by research conducted by The Trade Vision, a trade intelligence service.
This surge underscores Apple's growing influence and contribution to India's economy, positioning the country as a key player in the global supply chain for Apple products.
Moreover, Apple's commitment to sustainability is reflected in its recent collaboration with Mumbai-based solar energy solutions provider CleanMax. The companies have announced plans to invest in six rooftop solar projects across India, with a combined output of 14.4 megawatts (MW).
These projects will not only contribute to Apple's green initiatives but also power its offices and stores, furthering the company's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
Apple's expansion in India is poised to have a transformative impact on the country's manufacturing sector and employment landscape. By leveraging local talent and resources, Apple aims to strengthen its foothold in one of the world's fastest-growing smartphone markets while simultaneously fostering economic growth and development in India.
As Apple continues to invest in India's infrastructure and workforce, it underscores its long-term commitment to the country and its vision of driving innovation and sustainable growth. With a focus on production expansion, job creation, and environmental sustainability, Apple is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping India's digital future and contributing to its emergence as a global economic powerhouse.
