Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda stresses the importance of considering the interests of farmers across the country in response to demands raised by protesting farmers. He expresses optimism in finding a solution through negotiations and appeals for peaceful discussions.
Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda emphasized the significance of considering the interests of farmers across India when addressing the demands raised by protesting farmers at the Punjab-Haryana borders. He expressed confidence in finding a solution through negotiations and appealed to the farmers to engage in another round of discussions.

Balancing National Interests
Munda highlighted the importance of keeping in mind the welfare of farmers throughout the country while formulating policies. He affirmed that the government would work towards resolving the concerns of the protesting farmers in the coming days, taking into account the interests of all farmers.
Ongoing Agitation and Demands
Despite the failure of the fourth round of talks between the government and farmer representatives, thousands of farmers resumed their agitation on Wednesday. Their demands include a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various crops and farm debt waiver.
Appeal for Peaceful Dialogue
Urging the protesting farmers to maintain peace, Munda reiterated the government's readiness to discuss all issues, including the MSP. He invited the farmers for further discussions and appealed to them to find a mutually beneficial solution.
Tragic Incident During Protests
During the protests on Wednesday, a 21-year-old farmer lost his life, and several others were injured in a clash between security personnel and protesting farmers at Khanauri on the Punjab-Haryana border. The Haryana Police resorted to using tear gas shells to disperse farmers attempting to move towards barricades blocking their march to Delhi.
Emphasis on Dialogue
Munda emphasized that a solution can only be found through dialogue. He highlighted the government's efforts to resolve complex issues through dialogue and expressed hope that the ongoing negotiations would eventually lead to a decision that addresses the concerns of the farmers.
Previous Discussions and Future Prospects
Although consensus could not be reached in the previous rounds of discussions, the minister stressed the importance of continuing the negotiation process. He expressed optimism that a decision would be reached in the coming days to address the concerns of the farmers.
Government's Proposal and Rejection
During the fourth round of talks on February 18, a panel of three Union ministers proposed the purchase of pulses, maize, and cotton crops by government agencies at MSP for five years after entering into a contract with farmers. However, this proposal was rejected by the farmer leaders.
Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda's statements reflect the government's commitment to addressing the demands of protesting farmers while considering the interests of farmers across the country. The ongoing negotiations and emphasis on dialogue demonstrate the government's efforts to find a mutually acceptable solution that ensures the well-being of the farming community.
