Award Ceremony
On the final day of the trade fair on Monday, Santanu Deuri, Director of the Assam Pavilion at IITF 2023, received the silver medal from Pradeep Singh Kharola, Chairman and Managing Director of India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO). Odisha received the gold medal, while Rajasthan bagged the bronze.
Participation and Theme
The trade fair, which commenced on November 14 and concluded on Monday, saw the participation of 28 states and Union Territories, 13 foreign countries, and major corporate houses. It served as a platform to showcase numerous products manufactured locally by women artisans and entrepreneurs, aligned with the theme of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam." Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, envisions transforming the state into one of the top five states in the country, and the Assam Pavilion reflected this aspiration.
Assam Pavilion Highlights
The Assam Pavilion highlighted the state's rich cultural heritage, exquisite handicrafts, and traditional handlooms, captivating visitors at the trade fair. A total of 37 stalls were set up, featuring renowned handloom products, government-owned handicrafts and handlooms outlets, and the participation of various departments and agencies of the state government, including DIPR, Tourism, NEDFi, AIDC Ltd., AGMC, 30 MSME units, and two start-ups.
Initiatives and Sales
The pavilion showcased several initiatives undertaken by the Assam government, such as the One District One Product program and GI-tagged products like lemon, Gamusa, and Muga silk. Traditional Assamese dresses were also promoted during the fair. The Assam Pavilion attracted a significant number of visitors, including students from educational institutions in and around Delhi, and recorded a sale turnover of approximately Rs. 52 lakh.
The Assam Pavilion's outstanding performance at the 42nd IITF is a testament to the state's commitment to promoting its agricultural products, traditional attires, and rich cultural heritage. The silver medal reflects the state's dedication to excellence and its vision of becoming a leading state in India. The participation in the trade fair provided a platform for Assam to showcase its unique offerings to a wider audience and boost its economic growth.
