During the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit in Guwahati, prominent industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani committed to investing ₹50,000 crore each in Assam. This announcement was made on February 25, 2025, as part of efforts to boost the state's economic growth. The summit also featured an inaugural speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed enthusiasm for contributing to Assam's development. He stated that the conglomerate plans to invest ₹50,000 crore across various sectors, including airports, aerocity, transmission, cement, gas distribution networks, and road construction projects. "We are eager to be a part of the progress story of Assam," he said.
Investment Plans by Reliance Industries
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), also announced a significant investment plan for Assam. Over the next five years, RIL intends to invest ₹50,000 crore across five different verticals in the state. Ambani remarked that Assam would become a technological hub and highlighted the potential of its tech-savvy youth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the summit attendees by emphasising Assam's potential and historical significance. He described Advantage Assam as a campaign connecting global opportunities with Assam's progress. Modi noted that Eastern India had historically contributed significantly to India's prosperity.
Assam's Infrastructure Growth
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke about Assam's transformation from unrest to development since 2016. He credited this change to leadership under Prime Minister Modi and highlighted infrastructure achievements such as constructing 2,327 kilometres of national highways since 2016. The state's GDP has grown from $29 billion in 2013 to $68.7 billion in 2023.
Sarma also recalled the first Advantage Assam event held in February 2018 when Numaligarh Refinery expanded at a cost of ₹27,000 crore. He expressed confidence in Assam's peaceful status today compared to its past disturbances.
Summit Goals and Attendees
The Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit aims to attract investments and foster economic development in the state by providing a platform for businesses and investors to explore opportunities within its growing industrial sectors. Union Ministers Dr S Jaishankar, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Sarbananda Sonowal attended alongside industrialists like Ambani and Adani.
This summit reflects a spirit of growth and opportunity for Assam as it seeks to establish itself as a key player in India's economic landscape through strategic investments and infrastructure expansion initiatives.
