Apollo Micro Systems Limited (AMS) has announced to the stock exchanges that its step-down subsidiary, IDL Explosives Limited, has received an industrial license under the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951 for the production of high-energy explosives Trinitrotoluene (TNT) and HMX (Cyclotetramethylenetetranitramine). This announcement represents a major strategic milestone for the company.

The license, which is valid for 15 years from the date of issuance, permits IDL Explosives to produce TNT with a capacity of 500 MTPA and HMX with a capacity of 50 MTPA at its production site in Sunaparbat, Odisha. The management claims that this certification enhances AMS's competition in the specialized defence and industrial explosives market, improves its capacity to satisfy captive needs for defence applications, and creates opportunities to serve both domestic and foreign markets.
By establishing IDL Explosives as an Indian supplier of high-energy materials and verifying the group's innovation, operational excellence, and adherence to strict safety and quality standards, the development supports India's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

This milestone marks a timely and strategic entry into specialised defence explosives, positioning the IDL Explosives as a domestic supplier of high-energy materials, supporting India's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, and creating potential opportunities in the export market," he further added.
