HDFC Bank's maintenance on May 9-10, 2025, will disrupt UPI, net banking, and card transactions. Customers should plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
In May 2025, HDFC Bank announced a planned maintenance, set to take place on the 9th and 10th, which will see a range of its services temporarily disrupted. This includes the inability to conduct UPI transactions, utilize net banking facilities, and engage in debit and credit card transactions. To mitigate the impact on their customers, the bank has chosen to schedule these interruptions during the early hours of the morning, a time traditionally experiencing lower transaction volumes. Customers are, therefore, encouraged to organize their banking activities with these disruptions in mind, ensuring any necessary transactions are completed ahead of time.

During the maintenance on May 9, 2025, from 12:30 AM to 2:30 AM IST, debit card services will be completely unavailable. This means customers will be unable to use their debit cards for purchases either online or in-store during this window. To avoid any inconvenience, it's recommended that all planned purchases or payments be finalized before the maintenance begins.
The Impact on Credit and Debit Card Transactions
Furthermore, the maintenance will affect e-commerce transactions using HDFC Bank cards on May 9, 2025, from 12:30 AM to 2:00 AM IST. This 1.5-hour period will see customers unable to make online purchases on e-commerce platforms with their HDFC Bank debit or credit cards. Additionally, credit card services and statement-related functionalities will be out of service on May 9, 2025, between 01:00 AM and 04:00 AM IST. During these three hours, carrying out transactions with HDFC Bank credit cards or accessing and downloading credit card statements will not be possible.
Scheduled Downtime for Additional Services
On May 10, 2025, the bank will undergo further maintenance from 02:30 AM to 05:30 AM IST, affecting key features on net banking and the mobile banking app. This will temporarily disable access to account-related details, account fetching, and fund transfer options like UPI, IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS. Merchant payments and instant account opening services will also face interruptions. Loan and demat services will see a temporary halt from 04:30 AM to 06:30 AM IST and 05:00 AM to 07:00 AM IST, respectively, on the same day. Additionally, a two-hour credit card service downtime is planned on May 10, 2025, from 05:00 AM to 07:00 AM IST, affecting credit card transactions and access to credit card features.
In a bid to enhance its UPI infrastructure, HDFC Bank has also informed its customers via email about a 4-hour UPI service downtime on May 10, 2025, from 02:30 AM to 06:30 AM IST. This upgrade will render several UPI-related services temporarily unavailable. Affected services include UPI transactions linked to HDFC Current and Savings Accounts, UPI payments via RuPay Credit Cards, and all UPI functions on the HDFC Bank mobile banking app. UPI payments made through Third-Party Payment Apps (TPAPs) using HDFC Bank accounts and merchant UPI transactions routed via HDFC Bank will also be impacted. Customers are advised to plan and complete critical UPI transactions before this maintenance window to avoid any inconvenience.
Conclusively, HDFC Bank's scheduled maintenance in May 2025 is set to impact a broad spectrum of services, from debit and credit card transactions to UPI, net banking, and more. By scheduling downtime during early morning hours and providing advance notice, the bank aims to minimize customer inconvenience. However, patrons are encouraged to plan their banking activities around these times to ensure a smooth banking experience.
