Avatar: Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Film Smashes Worldwide, But Yet To Hit Rs 100 Crore In India

James Cameron's Avatar franchise has been among record breakers since the first Avatar film in 2009, and nothing less was expected from his threequel Avatar: Fire & Ash, which was released on the big screen last week. However, Avatar: Fire & Ash could not match the trends of its predecessors like Avatar: Way Of Water, with fans and critics giving mixed reactions. Despite this, the threequel has become one of the biggest openers of 2025 worldwide. However, the movie is still racing to hit the Rs 100 crore club in India.

Avatar Fire & Ash Box Office Collection In India:

According to Sacnilk data,the Avatar: Fire and Ash performed well on its first five days at the box office and earned an estimated Rs 85.50 crore in India. The movie had an overall 0.84% English occupancy on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. While in Hindi, the occupancy stood at 20.51%.

Avatar Fire & Ash Box Office Collection Weekend Performance:

Avatar: Fire & Ash is believed to be the darkest chapter of Avatar franchise. During its opening weekend, the movie bagged a box office of $347.30 million worldwide.

This makes Avatar: Fire & Ash the third-largest global opening of 2025. The largest global opening is done by Zootopia 2 with $560.30 million, followed by China's animated title Ne Zha 2 with $431.20 million box in 2025.

Compared to other Avatar franchises, Avatar: Fire & Ash outperforms the 2009 Avatar but fails to surpass Avatar: Way of Water.

During the opening weekend, Avatar earned $232 million and Avatar: Way of Water bagged $441.70 million.

The first part of Avatar franchise was released in 2009 and it broke every record in the cinema world. The movie emerged to become the highest grosser worldwide, fastest to hit $1 billion mark and also setting the record of highest grosser in 3D. Avatar recorded a box office collection of $2.789 billion worldwide, dethroning Titanic's collection of $1.84 billion. However, the movie was surpassed by Avengers Endgame who earned $2.797 billion. Currently, Avatar is the second highest grosser worldwide.

But its sequel, Avatar : The Way of Water which was launched on big screens in 2022, also did not stay behind in taking the multiplexes by the storm. The Way of Water earned $2.320 billion worldwide, making it the highest grosser of 2022 and post-Covid era.

Currently, Avatar: Fire & Ash has 7.5 rating out of 10 at IMDb, while 66% users at Rotten Tomatoes liked the movie. On Google, 92% users liked the film. Majority of the critics rated the movie 3 out of 5 stars.
