As a result, while Avatar 3 has opened well, outperforming many international releases, it has fallen short of overtaking Dhurandhar on day one in India.

For context, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) had delivered a massive opening in India, collecting Rs 48.75 crore gross and Rs 40.3 crore net on its first day. Comparatively, Fire and Ash has had a more measured start, making its journey at the Indian box office more challenging amid strong local competition.
