Bangalore Rains: Karnataka's capital, Bangalore, aka Bengaluru, is likely to witness heavy rainfall from Tuesday, August 12, due to a strong revival of the southwest monsoon. Heavy rainfall is likely to continue in the city for next one week, ie till 18 August, reported Times Now.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has predicted for moderate rainfall in the metro city till 20 August.

Bangalore Weather Alert

The weather forecast agency has mentioned that the metro city may witness cloudy skies and experience light to moderate rainfall at isolated places on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Light to moderate rain likely at isolated places. Maximum & Minimum temperature very likely to be around 28°C and 21°C respectively," according to IMD's Bangalore weather forecast for Tuesday.

The weather forecasting agency has predicted generally cloudy sky with moderate rain in Bangalore till August 16 with no warnings issued for the city.

Bangalore Rains And Chaos

The Karnataka capital witnessed severe rainfall during the last weekend which led to massive flooding in low lying areas, long traffic jams and waterlogging issues near many key areas. Major roads like those from Koramangala to Ramamurthy Nagar, turned into slow-moving streams last weekend. Additionally, commuters were forced to wade through waterlogged streets. V. Nagenahalli recorded the highest rainfall at 42 mm, while Hampi Nagar saw 30.5 mm. Jakkuru and Horamavu-2 each received 27.5 mm, and Singasandra-2 had 24 mm of rain.

According to IMD, the revival of the south-west monsoon in Bangalore is the main cause of severe rainfall in the city over the past 2-3 days. A developing weather system over northern Andhra Pradesh may become a low-pressure area, potentially causing more heavy rain in coastal districts like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada from August 12 to 18.

Bangalore residents should prepare for persistent cloudy skies and steady rain in the immediate future. Temperatures will hover around 28 to 29 degrees Celsius with humidity levels exceeding 80 per cent. If the rains continue, the yellow alert might be extended further. The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) hasn't yet influenced conditions significantly.

However, cooler Arabian Sea temperatures could affect moisture availability and alter rainfall patterns in the upcoming weeks. This factor might play a role in how the weather evolves during this period.

Karnataka Weather Alert

In the coastal Karnataka region, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rain at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts on August 12 and 13.

In the North Interior Karnataka, the weather forecasting agency has predicted moderate rain at many places over Bidar, Kalburgi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Vijayapura districts. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places over Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri districts.

In South Interior Karnataka, moderate rain is expected at many places over Ballari, Vijayanagara, Hassan, Mysuru, Mandya, Ramanagara, Kodagu and Chamarajanagara districts. Light to moderate rain can occur at places over Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Shivamogga and Tumakuru districts.
