Bank Holiday Today: Despite the advent of internet banking and mobile applications, many prefer to visit banks for financial tasks. For those who are planning a bank visit, it is better to check whether it is a bank holiday today or not. Banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, which often leaves people in confusion about bank holidays every Saturday.
Are Banks Open Today?
According to the Reserve Bank of India guidelines, all banks (private or public) will remain closed every Sunday and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. As June 21st is the third Saturday of the month, banks will remain open today. People can complete most of their financial tasks on Saturday.

Bank Holidays in June 2025
There are four bank holidays in June month other than Saturdays and Sundays. According to the RBI's bank holiday calendar, banks are scheduled to remain closed on June 7, 11, 27 and 30. However, these bank holidays are not implemented across the country and may vary from region to region.
Banks in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad - Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad - Telangana, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram regions were closed on June 7 on Bakri ID also known as Id-Uz-Zuha. On June 11, banks lying in Gangtok and Shimla regions were closed to mark the Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti/Saga Dawa.
Bank Holiday on June 27
Banks falling in the Bhubhaneshwar and Imphal regions will remain closed on June 27 on the occasion of Ratha Yatra/ Kang (Rathajatra). Jagannath Ratha Yatra is celebrated with huge joy and fervour across Odisha, especially in Puri every year. This year, Jagannath Ratha Yatra will be carried out on June 27.
Bank Holiday on June 30
Banks of Aizawl region will remain shut on June 30 on the occasion of Remna Ni. Bank holidays mentioned above are identified by the RBI under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Five days working has been a long-pending demand of bank employees associations and there have been reports that the government is considering to impose five days working format in the banking sector as well. However, there has been no clear information available for the same till now. Hence, banks are closed only on second and fourth Saturdays every month.
Even when there is a bank holiday, people can complete their financial tasks via online banking or mobile application. People can make online transactions, open fixed deposits, create demand drafts, check online balance, evaluate their previous transactions with online passbook on their banking applications.
Similarly, they can also execute fund transfers by submitting NEFT/RTGS transfer forms. They can also submit chequebook forms, change their account details using net banking, download their bank statement, or even apply for a locker online.
