Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) has quietly rolled out a new pick-up fee for corporate taxis at Bengaluru airport, adding to the cost of airport travel for passengers using yellow-board vehicles.
The new charge applies at Kempegowda International Airport, where corporate taxis are now required to pay Rs 275 for the first 10 minutes of pick-up time. Beyond this window, an additional Rs 150 is charged for every extra five minutes, significantly increasing costs if vehicles are delayed.

What Is the New Bengaluru Airport Pick-Up Charge?
According to officials, the airport operator has designated a "premium pick-up zone" exclusively for corporate taxis. Under the revised rule, yellow-board taxis picking up passengers from this zone must pay a fixed fee even if the stop is brief.
A BIAL official quoted by Moneycontrol, explained that the Rs 275 charge covers the first 10 minutes, after which the steep per-block fee kicks in. The pricing structure has raised concerns among regular flyers who depend on corporate cabs for airport transfers.
Where Is the Premium Pick-Up Zone Located?
The newly notified pick-up point has been created at Terminal 1 departures, specifically the fifth lane of the drop-off area. Corporate taxis are required to use this lane exclusively, and the fee is automatically levied based on the duration of the vehicle's stay.
BIAL had initially issued a statement on December 26 announcing the new Bengaluru airport corporate taxi charges. However, following backlash from taxi operators and commuters, the statement was later withdrawn.
Despite this, the airport operator went ahead and implemented the fee from December 28, without further public announcements. The quiet rollout has led to confusion among drivers and passengers, many of whom were unaware of the additional cost until they were charged.
Free Parking Time Extended at Terminal 1 Arrivals
Alongside the controversial pick-up fee, BIAL has also introduced a small relief measure. From December 26, the airport operator extended free parking time at Terminal 1 arrival pick-up zones.
As per the revised norms:
Free parking at P3 and P4 arrival areas has been increased
The free duration is now 15 minutes instead of the earlier 10 minutes
This change is aimed at easing congestion and offering flexibility to private vehicles picking up arriving passengers.
