Bengaluru city is already infamous for its high cost of living. Now, a viral Instagram video has started the debate after a travel influencer couple shared their monthly expenses in Bengaluru, revealing they spent a whopping Rs. 5.9 lakh in August 2025.

Influencer Couple Shares Bengaluru Living Costs
The video was posted by travel influencers who go by the handle @escapetolandscape on Instagram. The couple shared their household spending as a married couple living in a rented apartment in Bengaluru.
Here's the full list of how their monthly expenses add up:
House rent: Rs. 42,000 for their apartment.
Fitness expenses: Rs. 14,000 on personal trainers and Pilates classes.
Groceries: Rs. 20,000 to support their fitness and lifestyle.
Utilities, house help & subscriptions: Rs. 10,000.
Food & dining out: Rs. 13,000 spent on restaurants and online food orders.
Travel bookings: Rs. 3.5 lakh reserved for two international and two domestic trips.
Investments: Rs. 1 lakh set aside for SIPs.
Miscellaneous (cabs, grooming, gifting, insurance): Rs. 15,000.
Adding all this, their total monthly spend in August 2025 comes to Rs. 5.9 lakh, which is definitely a huge amount, as this is an average entry-level salary for many.
The video quickly went viral, gathering thousands of comments on the video where netizens debated whether such expenses are realistic for average households in Bengaluru city.
One user commented, "You called me poor in so many languages."
Another added, "Their 1-month expense = our 1-year income."
A third joked, "Note: all of these expenses are only possible for social media influencers, because with one promotion, they can live the entire month off an average person's salary."
Another popular reaction read: "Is 75 LPA enough to live in Bangalore? I think this couple asked the question."
Bengaluru's Rising Cost of Living Debate
Bengaluru is undoubtedly one of India's most expensive cities, particularly for housing and lifestyle. Bengaluru's real estate market in 2025 is surging because of heavy demand and rising property prices. As per reports, average property prices in Bengaluru have risen approximately 10% over recent years, with luxury apartments priced between Rs. 1.5 crore and Rs. 12 crore, and villas starting around Rs. 3 crore.
According to cost-of-living surveys, most middle-class families in Bengaluru spend between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 1.5 lakh per month, depending on housing, children's education, and lifestyle. The influencer couple's Rs. 5.9 lakh monthly spending is nearly four to five times higher than what an average salaried family would typically manage. Hence, the couple's expenses shocked many.
