Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced extended metro operations across key corridors in the city. The decision comes ahead of the December 31 night rush, when thousands of residents are expected to head out for festivities across Bengaluru.

The metro operator has urged commuters to plan their journeys ahead of time and follow instructions issued by metro staff and security personnel.
Official Announcement and Lines Covered
In an official media release dated December 29, 2025, BMRCL confirmed that metro services on the Purple Line, Green Line, and Yellow Line will operate late into the night on December 31, 2025, with select services running into the early hours of January 1, 2026.
Last Metro Train Timings on New Year's Eve
According to the official release by BMRCL, the last trains from terminal stations will depart well past midnight to accommodate late-night commuters.
On the Purple Line, the last train from Whitefield towards Challaghatta will depart at 1:45 AM, while the final service from Challaghatta to Whitefield will leave at 2:00 AM.
On the Green Line, both directions-Madavara to Silk Institute and Silk Institute to Madavarawill see their last trains departing at 2:00 AM.
For the Yellow Line, the last train from R.V. Road to Bommasandra is scheduled at 3:10 AM, while the final service from Bommasandra to R.V. Road will depart at 1:30 AM.
Special Late-Night Departures
At Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic), the city's main interchange hub, the last trains on the Purple and Green Lines will depart at 2:45 AM. These services will head towards Whitefield, Challaghatta, Madavara, and Silk Institute, ensuring last-mile connectivity for passengers changing lines late at night.
To manage the heavy New Year's Eve rush, BMRCL has also announced increased train frequency during late-night hours. From 11:30 PM onwards on December 31, metro trains will run every 8 minutes on the Purple and Green Lines. On the Yellow Line, services will operate at 15-minute intervals until the end of the extended service window.
Apart from that, MG Road Metro Station will remain closed for entry and exit from 10:00 PM on December 31, 2025. However, metro trains will continue to stop at nearby stations Trinity Metro Station and Cubbon Park Metro Station for boarding and deboarding of passengers.
Advisory Issued for Passengers
BMRCL has advised passengers to plan ticket purchases in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience. Token sales at Trinity and Cubbon Park stations will be discontinued after 11:00 PM. Commuters travelling late at night are encouraged to use smart cards with sufficient balance, QR tickets, or purchase return journey tokens beforehand.
