Residents in multiple parts will face Bengaluru power cut on August 16 and 17, as the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) will undergo emergency maintenance work at key substations.
According to a statement from BESCOM, the scheduled Bengaluru power cut will take place from morning to evening in several areas due to transformer and substation maintenance. The power outages in Bengaluru are expected to impact both residential and commercial establishments across the city from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on August 16 & 17.

Power Cut in Bengaluru on Saturday, August 16
As per BESCOM's Twitter post, on Saturday, August 16, due to emergency maintenance and repair works at BESCOM's 66/11 kV power substations, power supply will be disrupted and will cause outages in the following areas from 2 pm to 6 pm:
In Rajarajeshwari Nagar Division: Annapoorneshwari Nagar, BEML Layout, BEML 3rd & 5th Stage, Kengeri Satellite Town, Jnanabharathi, Pattanagere, Nagadevanahalli, Shrigandhakavalu, Doddabasti, Jnanajyothinagar and surrounding areas.
In Chikkabanavara Division: Chikkabanavara, Hesaraghatta Road, Janapriya Apartments, Nagenahalli, Avalahalli, Linganahalli, Kodigehalli, Mallasandra, Bagalagunte, Lakshmipura, Madanayakanahalli, Madavara, and nearby areas.
Power Cut in Bengaluru on Sunday, August 17
On Sunday, August 17 (11 am to 5 pm), several areas will experience power cuts because of the maintenance work under the Girinagar 220/66/11 KV Power Station. Affected locations include:
Chikkallasandra, Padmanabhanagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, Chennamanakere Achukattu, ISRO Layout, Gowdanapalya, Uttarahalli, Vidyapeeta Circle, Hosakerehalli, Muneshwara Block, Kathriguppe, Bank Colony, Maruthi Layout, Poornaprajna Layout, and surrounding areas.
Dodda Ulsoor, Kattigenahalli, Vishwanathapura, Kadayarappanahalli, Begur, Channarayapatna and surrounding villages, Tataguni, Gubbalala, Chunchanakuppe, Dodda Aladamara, Jambusavari Dinne, Gubbalala Main Road, Rajarajeshwari Layout, Banashankari 6th Stage, Hosakerehalli, Jnanabharathi area, Srinivaspura, Other surrounding areas
Reason Behind This Power Outage In Bengaluru?
Bescom officials have said that the Bengaluru power cuts are part of emergency maintenance work by KPTCL to improve the stability and efficiency of Bengaluru's electricity supply. BESCOM has also reminded residents that such shutdowns are necessary to prevent larger disruptions in the future.
With Bengaluru power cuts on August 16-17 announced, residents are advised to plan their weekend activities accordingly. People living in the affected areas should charge essential devices, store water in advance, and plan for backup options during the outage window.
BESCOM further noted that it will continue to issue power cut alerts in Bengaluru to keep citizens informed about upcoming maintenance schedules.
