The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced that several areas in the city will experience a power outage on Saturday, December 20, from 10 am to 3 pm as they are undertaking quarterly maintenance work.
Bengaluru Power Cut On Saturday:
According to BESCOM, the scheduled maintenance work includes servicing the 31.5 MVA Transformer-2 and associated feeders at the 220/66/11 KV HAL station. The work will begin from 10 am and is expected to be completed by 3 pm.

Affected Areas:
Localities that could face 6-hours-long power outages are:
- Indiranagar
- Defence Colony
- 100 Feet Road
- Indiranagar 1st and 2nd stage
- 80 Feet Road
- CMH Road
- Krishna Temple Road
- Jeevan Bhima Nagar
- Thippasandra
- Malleshpalya
- Maruthi Nagar
- Basavanagara
- Vibhutipura
- Doddanekundi
And other surrounding areas will be impacted as well.
BESCOM has advised residents to plan accordingly during the period.

Here are some of the tips to practice during planned power outages:
- Keep your inverters, emergency lights, phones, and power banks charged to the full before the outage.
- Since the power outage will be from 10 am to 3 pm, schedule your daily chores accordingly. Notably, for usage of any appliance like water pumps, washing machines, microwaves, or a mixer, it is better to be done before power cut.
- Keep a storage of sufficient water both for drinking and other purposes.
- Prepare your meals prior to the outage.
