Bengaluru citizens are responding overwhelmingly to the 50% traffic fine discount announced by the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP). As the city enters Day 9 of the discount window, the initiative has led to a huge surge in challan payments.
According to official data shared by Bengaluru traffic police, citizens have cleared 14,780 cases in a single day, contributing to a collection of Rs 41,98,150 on November 29 alone.

Between November 21 and December 12, the duration of this special discount scheme, Bengaluru residents have already settled 265,068 pending traffic challans, resulting in a total collection of Rs 75,136,300.
The authorities have praised citizens for making the most of the discount and clearing long-pending fines that often remain unpaid due to high penalty amounts.
What the 50% Traffic Fine Discount Means for Citizens
The recently announced 50% challan discount in Bengaluru allows vehicle owners to resolve their pending traffic fines by paying only half the amount. This relief measure has been introduced to encourage compliance, reduce backlog, and promote responsible driving behaviour in the city.
The discount is available from November 21 to December 12 and is applicable to the majority of traffic violation categories issued by the BTP. As traffic-related fines have significantly increased over the past few years, this discount has become a major motivator for thousands of motorists.
How to Pay Traffic Fines and Avail the 50% Discount
Bengaluru residents can clear their pending traffic fines using three simple methods:
1. Pay Through Mobile Apps available on both Android and iOS:
Bengaluru traffic police has three apps for the purpose, which include the Karnataka State Police app, AstraM (BTP Traffic Violation System) & the KarnatakaOne app.
Step-by-Step Process To pay your dues
Step 1: Enter your vehicle number.
Step 2: Verify the photo and details of your violation.
Step 3: Pay the challan with the 50% discount automatically applied.
2. Citizens can also walk into any traffic police station in Bengaluru and pay their discounted fines at the counter.
3. Visit the Traffic Management Centre located on the First Floor, Infantry Road, near Indian Express, Bengaluru.
However, users should note that the Traffic Management Centre is one of the busiest locations during the discount period, as a lot of citizens choose to settle fines offline.
