Bengaluru Traffic is expected to worsen due to a major traffic crisis from October 1st, as several private companies located along the busy Outer Ring Road (ORR) have announced an end to work-from-home (WFH) and hybrid working models. From next month onwards, full-time office attendance will be mandatory, and lakhs of employees are expected to return to their desks daily.

ORR, Sarjapur Road & Electronics City, Silkboard Expect Chaos
Private organizations have taken this decision to boost the productivity oof their employees but this step is expected to dramatically increase vehicle density on already congested stretches such as ORR, Sarjapur Road,Electronics City corridors.
Bengaluru Traffic Among Worst in India
Office-goers in Bengaluru are already struggling with one of the longest commutes in India. Compared to other metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, Bengaluru's traffic remains one of the most frustrating for both employees and businesses. The return-to-office push is expected to worsen this crisis, especially during morning and evening hours when the Bengaluru traffic is at its peak. Commuters fear that average travel times could increase by up to 90 minutes per trip, adding stress, fuel costs, and productivity losses.
Why Employees Are Returning Despite Congestion
Interestingly, fear of job insecurity and layoffs, particularly due to the rise of AI and automation, is forcing many employees to prefer physical office presence. Workers believe being visible at the workplace reduces the risk of being sidelined or laid off, further fueling Bengaluru's already severe traffic woes.
A Call for Urgent Solutions
With no WFH or hybrid work models from October 1, Bengaluru is on the brink of a traffic meltdown. Authorities and companies must act quickly, whether by changing office timings, promoting public transport, or bringing some flexible working, to prevent the Bengaluru tarffic woes.
For Bengaluru residents, this means preparing for longer commutes, increased fuel costs, and heavier jams on ORR, Sarjapur Road, Whitefield, and Electronics City, silkboard, Hebbal and major junctions. The infamous Bengaluru traffic, already ranked among the worst in the world, is set to get even more challenging in the coming weeks.
