Bengaluru Weather Alert: Several districts in North Karnataka, including Bidar, Dharwad and Haveri, continued to experience severe cold-wave-like conditions on Monday, December 29. Meanwhile, Bengaluru's weather remained largely pleasant; however, the city's minimum temperatures are expected to dip further in the coming days, ahead of New Year's Eve.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bidar recorded the lowest temperature of 9.5 degree Celsius on Sunday. As we prepare for the New Year celebrations, here are all the details you need to know about Bengaluru weather.

Bengaluru Weather
The maximum temperature in Bengaluru was recorded at 26.4 degree Celsius, recorded on Sunday, as per IMD forecast. The minimum temperature in the state capital was recorded at 16.7 degree Celsius. The relative humidity was recorded at 63% at 5:30 pm on Sunday.
As per the IMD forecast, Bengaluru's minimum temperature is likely to drop to 15 degree Celsius from Tuesday (30 Dec) onwards till Saturday (3 January). Likewise, the maximum temperature in the city is expected to increase to 28 degree Celsius. Bengaluru is likely to witness partly cloudy sky with fog/mist during early morning hours in some areas.
Karnataka Weather Forecast
There was a significant decline in temperature (between -2 degree Celsius or -4 degree Celsius) at a few places over coastal Karnataka. Whereas, there was no large change (-2 degree Celsius to -4 degree Celsius) over interior Karnataka, and at many places over coastal Karnataka.
Few places over South Interior Karnataka, and one or two places over North Interior Karnataka below normal temperature (betweem -1.6 degree Celsius- -3 degree Celsius). Dry weather is likely to prevail over all districts of coastal Karnataka, north Interior Karnataka, and south interior Karnataka.
Karnataka is facing severe cold this year, with extremes across all three seasons and an extended monsoon setting up unusually low temperatures statewide, raising concerns for both public health and agriculture.
Data show that the all-time ten coldest years since 1901 in Bengaluru rural, Mysuru, Raichur, Vijayapura and Bidar have all occurred in the last two decades, with minimum temperatures of 9.5°C, 8.1°C, 7.1°C, 6°C and 5.6°C respectively.
Coldest years and temperature drop trends in Karnataka
Bagalkot has seen eight of its coldest years since 2022, the lowest in over four decades, with temperatures falling to 6.6°C, prompting cold wave alerts as officials warn of health risks and increased fungal diseases affecting crops.
Meteorological officials link the sharp temperature drop to western disturbances and stronger jet streams, while specialists also point to a combination of global and regional influences, including the La Niña phase in the Pacific Ocean, which has helped deepen the ongoing chill.
