Bengaluru Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for several Karnataka districts for the upcoming summer season in March and May 2026. The weather forecasting agency has warned that it will be a harsh summer for most of the interior districts of Karnataka with multiple episodes of heat waves.

Karnataka Weather Alert
Temperature in most of Karnataka districts are set to climb sharply in the coming days, especially in March and April. The IMD has issued fresh weather warnings of a harsh summer between March and May 2026. The weather forecasting agency has also issued a red alert for most parts of north interior Karnataka due to forecast severe heat wave conditions lasting three to six days at a stretch.
IMD officials noted that February has already seen temperatures rising across Karnataka, and the trend is expected to continue over the next few months, while residents across districts have been urged to remain careful during hot and dry spells through the end of February, especially during afternoon hours.
Karnataka Weather: Warmer Than Usual Nights In Summer
The weather forecasting agency has projected warmer than usual nights, starting that minimum temperatures are likely to remain above normal over parts of coastal Karnataka and north interior Karnataka during the same March to May 2026 period, which could limit night-time relief during heat wave phases and affect vulnerable communities.
"Above normal maximum temperature is predicted for entire Karnataka from March to May 2026. Maximum probability (65% to 75%) is predicted over costal Karnataka," TNIE quoted IMD report.
Karnataka Heatwave Alert
Given the harsh summer conditions in the state, the IMD has stressed early awareness, urging Karnataka residents to pay attention to official updates, prepare for hotter days and warmer nights between March and May 2026. This would also mean that people should take simple precautions during February's ongoing hot, dry spells to reduce health risks.
