IMD Warns of Intense Western Disturbance

The IMD has further warned of an intense Western Disturbance that is expected to impact Northwest India starting from the night of December 26, 2024. This weather system is predicted to bring significant changes to the region's climatic conditions in the days that follow.

An induced cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas on December 27. This system is expected to interact with easterly winds at lower atmospheric levels, leading to a high influx of moisture from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Impact on Northwest India

The combination of moisture-laden winds and the intense Western Disturbance is projected to result in widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and potentially even snowfall in higher altitudes. States such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir are expected to bear the brunt of these weather conditions, which are likely to persist until December 28.
