The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for Bengaluru and parts of Karnataka, indicating the onset of pre-monsoon showers. According to the latest Karnataka weather forecast, rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue over the next few days, especially during the afternoons and evenings.
Bengaluru Rain Update: Light to Moderate Showers with Thunder Expected
As per the IMD forecast for May 2025, Bengaluru weather is likely to remain cloudy and wet over the next 7 days. From April 30 to May 5, the city will experience daily rain or thunderstorms, mainly towards the afternoon or evening. The maximum temperature is forecasted to hover around 33-34°C, while minimum temperatures will remain around 21°C, offering a welcome relief from the scorching summer heat.
Karnataka Weather Forecast
Not just Bengaluru, but other parts of the state, including Mysuru, Shivamogga, Hassan, Tumkur, Mandya, Mangalore, and Chitradurga, are also likely to receive rain. These summer showers in Karnataka are part of the pre-monsoon activity triggered by changing wind patterns and moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.

The Karnataka rain prediction aligns with a broader trend of pre-monsoon rainfall expected across southern India. Gusty winds in Bengaluru and nearby regions may accompany these rains, according to the IMD rain alert issued for Karnataka.
Bengaluru Weather Today
On April 30, Bengaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2°C and a minimum temperature of 22.7°C as per the IMD website. The humidity level at 08:30 am was 69%, while at 5:30 pm, it dropped to 40%. The sun is expected to set at 18:34 IST, with sunrise on May 1 forecasted at 05:59 IST.
Karnataka Cyclone & Weather News
Although there is no immediate cyclone alert in Karnataka, the IMD continues to monitor conditions closely as we slowly enter the monsoon season. In recent years, pre-monsoon activity has sometimes intensified into low-pressure systems or cyclonic circulations, especially in coastal regions like Mangalore.
Weather at Hill Stations & Tourist Spots
If you're planning to travel in early May to tourist places like Ooty, Coorg & Chikkamagaluru, it is best to carry rain protection and avoid going into hilly areas during thunderstorms.
Ooty weather is expected to be cool with light drizzles and low visibility in the morning hours.
whereas weather in Coorg and Chikkamagaluru will experience intermittent rainfall, fog patches, and cooler than usual nights, which may impact visibility for trekkers and tourists.
