Bengaluru is all set to add another milestone to its expanding metro rail network with the inauguration of the Namma Metro Yellow Line on August 10, 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially flag off the new line, which aims to drastically improve public transport access to Bangalore's southern corridor, particularly Electronic City and Bommasandra, both major IT and industrial hubs. Initially, the line will launch with just three trains, running at intervals of 20 to 25 minutes. As operations scale up, peak hour frequency is expected to improve to every 6 to 10 minutes, while off-peak hours will see trains every 10 to 15 minutes. The end-to-end travel time across the 19.15 km stretch is estimated to be around 80 minutes.
According to BMRCL, daily ridership is expected to start at around 25,000 passengers, with numbers projected to rise to over 2 lakh commuters as more trains are added and frequency improves.
