Srinagar, December 22: A roadshow was organized in Srinagar to promote Bharat Tex, a global textile expo scheduled to take place in New Delhi in February 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about the significance of the expo among manufacturers and exporters in Kashmir.

Textile Industry Comes Together
The roadshow was organized by the Consortium of Textile Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and the Carpet Export Promotion Council of India (CEPC). It is part of a series of events to promote Bharat Tex 2024, a flagship textile event scheduled from February 26-29 at Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in New Delhi.
Expo Highlights
The expo will be spread across two lakh square meters and will feature over 3,500 exhibitors showcasing a wide range of products, including fiber, yarn, fabric, home textiles, technical textiles, handloom and powerloom products, handicrafts, and technical textiles. Exhibitors and buyers from over 40 countries are expected to participate in the event.
Encouraging Participation
Speaking at the roadshow, Director of the Ministry of Textiles, Anil Kumar, emphasized the importance of Bharat Tex and encouraged textile manufacturers and exporters to participate. He highlighted the opportunity for businesses to reach different corners of the world and address challenges faced by stakeholders in the industry.
Platform for Exporters
CEPC Chairman Mukesh Kumar Gombar emphasized the significance of the expo for small exporters who may not have the resources to travel internationally to seek buyers. He expressed optimism that the platform will help businesses increase their business and gain access to the international market.
Potential for Jammu and Kashmir
When asked about the potential impact of the expo on Jammu and Kashmir, Gombar highlighted the region's potential for growth in the carpet industry. He expressed the intention to showcase the region's products on a global stage.
Local Participation
Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, a local businessman and member of the Committee of Administration (COA) of CEPC, urged stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir to seize the opportunity and actively participate in the expo. He emphasized the importance of being at the forefront of the textile industry and expressed expectations for strong participation from the region.
The roadshow in Srinagar successfully promoted Bharat Tex 2024 and encouraged local stakeholders to participate in the event. With its focus on bringing the textile industry together, providing a platform for exporters, and showcasing the potential of Jammu and Kashmir, Bharat Tex 2024 is poised to be a significant event for the textile industry in India.
