The Bihar Business Connect 2024 roadshow kicked off in Kolkata on Monday, attracting significant interest from investors. State Industries and Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra stressed that these initiatives aim to correct misconceptions about Bihar. Speaking to a packed audience, Mishra highlighted the state's untapped potential and announced plans for additional roadshows in other cities and possibly abroad to promote the summit scheduled for December.

Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Tourism Department and IT, elaborated on the Bihar Tourism Policy. He discussed incentives for developing tourism infrastructure, including hotels, resorts, amusement parks, and river ecosystem projects. Singh also mentioned that the state is prepared to offer customised incentive schemes to attract more investments.
Investment Opportunities in Bihar
Amit Saraogi, owner of Anmol Feeds, praised the investment-friendly environment in Bihar. His company operates three plants in the state and is setting up a fourth. Saraogi commended the government for resolving critical land issues and establishing a genuine single-window clearance system, making Bihar an attractive investment destination.
Tushar Jain of Priority Bags shared his positive experience of doing business in Muzaffarpur. His company has expanded significantly, providing employment to 3,200 labourers who previously migrated. This growth underscores the favourable business conditions in the state.
Economic Growth and Development
Chief Secretary of the Industry Department, Sandeep Poundrik, highlighted Bihar's achievements in terms of SGDP growth. He pointed out the state's strengths in agriculture, being a major producer of litchi and foxnuts, and the second-largest mango producer. Poundrik also announced that Britannia is setting up a second factory in Bihar, and HCL Tech is inaugurating an office on Tuesday.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce, partnering with the roadshow, noted Bihar's significant progress and potential as a major investment hub. The chamber emphasised that the state holds great promise for investors looking for new opportunities.
Future Roadshows and Investment Plans
Minister Mishra reiterated that Bihar is ready to contribute to India's development through Invest India. He urged industry leaders to visit the state before forming any opinions. Mishra assured that Bihar would welcome both domestic and foreign investors with open arms.
The roadshow's success in Kolkata sets a positive tone for future events aimed at showcasing Bihar's potential. With plans for more roadshows in various cities and possibly international locations, Bihar aims to attract substantial investments by December.
The state's efforts to improve its image and highlight its strengths are crucial steps towards becoming a major investment destination. By addressing misconceptions and promoting its achievements, Bihar is positioning itself as a promising location for business growth.
