An Indian government-owned banking and financial services company Bank of Baroda announced on Thursday that it will no longer accept cheque books of the erstwhile Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank. Customers have been urged to substitute their old cheque books for new ones, the bank added. The merger of Bank of Baroda, formerly Vijaya Bank, with Dena Bank took effect on April 1, 2019. Bank of Baroda has also stated that customers can get new cheque books, by calling the 24/7 toll-free number 1800 258 44 55 or 1800 102 44 55, or by visiting their nearest bank branch.

Regarding the same, Bank of Baroda earlier has stated via its Twitter handle that "New IFSC codes for the erstwhile Dena and Vijaya Bank branches can be easily obtained! Please obtain cheque books by 30th June 2021 with NEW MICR from your Branch or apply through Net Banking / Mobile Banking. Know more http://bit.ly/IFSCode_Km."
Meanwhile, with effect from today, State Bank of India (SBI) has also stated that BSBD account customers would receive 10 free cheque leaves each financial year. Following that, the bank would charge Rs 40 plus GST for a 10-leaf cheque book, Rs 75 plus GST for a 25-leaf cheque book, and for an emergency cheque book the bank will impose a fee of Rs 50 plus GST for 10 leaves. Senior folks, on the other hand, will be excluded from the new cheque book service charges.
