Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty Starrer Border 2's Strong Advance Bookings Fuel Opening Day
The film entered theatres with solid pre-release buzz. Ahead of its release, Border 2 had already secured Rs 12.5 crore in advance bookings across India. More than 4.09 lakh tickets were sold across 16,221 shows, reflecting strong audience interest. When block seats are taken into account, advance booking figures climbed to nearly Rs 17.5 crore.
Border 2 Cast, Director and Production
Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The film features a strong ensemble cast led by Sunny Deol, alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty in pivotal roles.
The supporting cast includes Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Anya Singh, who portray family members affected by the emotional toll of war. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J. P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series Films and J. P. Films.
Border 2 Review, Storyline: Sunny Deol Steals the Spotlight
The biggest draw of Border 2 is Sunny Deol, returning as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler. The actor commands the screen with authority and emotional depth, dominating scenes even while sharing space with a large ensemble cast.
Varun Dhawan plays Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya, delivering an earnest performance, though his Haryanvi accent occasionally feels strained. Diljit Dosanjh, portraying Flg Officer Nirmal Jit Sekhon, stands out, particularly in aerial combat sequences that benefit from tight coordination between actor and director. Ahan Shetty, as Lt Cdr M S Rawat, shows visible rawness, reflecting his relatively limited screen experience.
Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana & Mona Singh in Border 2
Among the supporting actors, Anurag Arora and Paramveer Cheema deliver dependable performances that strengthen the narrative. Mona Singh, as Fateh Singh Kaler's wife, brings restraint and emotional gravitas to a limited role. Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Anya Singh leave a lasting impression as women coping with the uncertainty and loss that war inflicts on families back home.
Border 2 expands the scale of its predecessor by delivering action across land, air and sea. While the film carries forward themes of sacrifice and comradeship, it also explores the personal cost of war on soldiers and their families.
A significant portion of the narrative unfolds through flashbacks at the training academy, where Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya, Nirmal Jit Sekhon and M S Rawat evolve from cadets into close comrades. This phase highlights how trust and friendship are forged before the officers head into battle on different fronts.
As expected, Pakistan is portrayed as the primary adversary, with enemy officers shown as cruel and antagonistic.
One of the film's strongest aspects is its portrayal of life away from the battlefield. Villages, anxious families and waiting wives are shown grappling with fear and hope, adding emotional depth and raising the stakes beyond combat sequences.
Border 2 Songs, Music and Familiar Themes
Remixed versions of familiar songs make a return, including the much-loved track associated with letters from home, reinforcing the emotional connect. The music complements the narrative without overwhelming it, allowing the story and performances to take centre stage.
