India's Budget Session of Parliament 2026 is set to begin next week, and will be the start of one of the most crucial legislative periods of the year. Ahead of the session, the government is expected to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the agenda and ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament before the presentation of the Union Budget 2026-27.

As per usual practice, political parties hold discussions before the Budget Session begins. These talks help everyone agree on key issues and allow the Opposition to raise its concerns before important financial announcements are made.
Budget Session 2026: Dates, Phases and Duration
According to the official schedule, the Budget Session will run from January 28 to April 2, 2026, and will be held in two phases.
The first phase will commence on January 28 and continue until February 13, while the second phase will resume after a recess, from March 9 to April 2. In total, Parliament is expected to hold 30 sittings during the session.
The session will begin with President Droupadi Murmu's address to the joint sitting of both Houses, where she will talk about the government's legislative and policy priorities for the year ahead.
All-Party Meeting Likely Before Session Begins
As per parliamentary tradition, an all-party meeting is likely to be held on January 27 or January 28, just ahead of the session's commencement. While the Lok Sabha Secretariat is yet to officially confirm the date, such meetings are usually chaired by senior ministers and attended by floor leaders of major political parties.
The meeting is expected to focus on, Priorities for the Budget Session, Discussion on the President's address, The tabling of the Economic Survey, The presentation and passage of the Union Budget 2026-27. Ensuring smooth proceedings amid potential opposition demands and debates.

One of the biggest highlights of the session will be the presentation of the Union Budget 2026-27 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
