Bansal Wire Industries made a strong entry into the stock market on Wednesday, witnessing a stellar debut driven by investor interest in its initial public offering (IPO). The company's shares were listed at Rs 356 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), marking a significant 39.06% premium over the issue price of Rs 256 per share. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the shares opened at Rs 352.05 each, reflecting a 37.52% premium. This performance aligns closely with market expectations, which anticipated a listing premium in the range of 30% to 40%.
The debut of Bansal Wire Industries on the bourses came as no surprise to market watchers. The grey market premium (GMP) for the IPO, which stood at Rs 70 per share ahead of the listing, had already indicated a premium of 27.34%. This strong GMP was a clear signal of robust investor confidence and high demand for the stock.
The IPO, open for subscription from July 3 to July 5, garnered immense interest from investors across various categories. The company successfully raised Rs 745 crore through the book-built issue, which was entirely a fresh issue of 2.91 crore equity shares, with no offer-for-sale (OFS) component. The price band for the IPO was set between Rs 243 and Rs 256 per share, and the allotment was finalized on July 8, with the listing date set for July 10.

The Bansal Wire IPO received a staggering response, being subscribed 59.57 times overall. The issue saw bids for 127.85 crore equity shares against an offer of 2.14 crore shares. The retail category was oversubscribed 13.64 times, while the Non-Institutional Investors (NII) category saw a subscription of 51.46 times. The most enthusiasm, however, came from Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs), who subscribed to the issue 146.05 times.
This overwhelming demand highlights the strong market sentiment and the confidence that institutional and retail investors have in the company. Such a high level of subscription across all categories is indicative of the broad-based appeal and trust in Bansal Wire Industries' business model and future potential.
"Bansal Wire listing was in line with our expectations looking at the demand received from all types of investors. Despite industry challenges and steady stable margin business model, management is confident in having multi-segmental growth coming in the company. We believe that the company can consistently grow its topline in line with historic trends which have grown by 18% CAGR and it can grow more in the next 1 years due to business consolidations. Post listing above 38% to the issue price gives healthy opportunity to allotted investors to book profits as we had anticipated. Post listing, we see the valuations are getting stretched and upside would be limited from here," said Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd.
The success of the Bansal Wire IPO can be attributed to the efficient handling and strategic planning by the lead managers and promoters. SBI Capital Markets and Dam Capital Advisors Ltd were the book running lead managers for the IPO, ensuring a smooth and well-executed process. Kfin Technologies served as the IPO registrar, playing a crucial role in managing the allotment process.
The promoters of Bansal Wire Industries, namely Arun Gupta, Anita Gupta, Pranav Bansal, and Arun Kumar Gupta HUF, have been pivotal in steering the company towards this public offering. Their leadership and vision have played a significant role in building investor confidence and driving the company's growth trajectory.
Bansal Wire Industries is a prominent player in the manufacturing sector, specializing in the production of high-quality wire products. The company's extensive product portfolio and strong market presence have positioned it as a leader in the industry. The funds raised from the IPO are expected to be utilized for expanding production capacities, enhancing product offerings, and further strengthening its market position.
The impressive debut of Bansal Wire Industries on the stock market shows the strong demand for its shares and the confidence investors have in its future prospects. The listing premium and the overwhelming subscription figures reflect the positive market sentiment and the company's potential for growth.
