On June 8, 2021, the Union Health Ministry on the basis of prices declared by vaccine manufacturing companies capped rates for the different Covid 19 vaccines in private hospitals. Likewise, the maximum charges are Rs. 780 for Covishield, Rs. 1410 for Covaxin and Rs. 1145 for Sputnik V.

On Monday, while announcing a slew of measures linked to Covid 19, PM Narendra Modi said that private hospital can continue to obtain 25% Covid 19 jabs, nonetheless the service charges was capped at Rs. 150 per jab over and above the vaccine's fixed cost.

Earlier in the day, the ministry of health said that Covid 19 vaccine price for private sector as well as hospitals shall be decided by vaccine manufacturing companies. Further it went to say that States will determine the demand of the private sector i.e. they would find out how many facilities are there in its network and how many jabs shall be required.
