ChatGPT Solves 3-Hour CBSE Class 10 Maths Paper In Seconds -Here’s How To Get Accurate AI Math Solutions?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to push boundaries, constantly surprising us with its growing capabilities. From generating artistic images to answering complex questions, it has become an all-around digital assistant. To test its mathematical ability, Moneycontrol recently experimented by uploading both the Standard and Basic versions of a Class 10 Mathematics exam paper into ChatGPT to see how efficiently it could solve them.

The results were really surprising. The AI completed the entire 15-page question paper in less than a minute, delivering clear, step-by-step solutions with proper headings and neatly structured final answers, much similar to how students are expected to present their responses in an actual exam.

The paper, which included 38 questions carrying a total of 80 marks, followed the familiar pattern of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams. It began with one-mark multiple-choice questions, many of which were straightforward. However, a few involving algebraic expressions, trigonometric identities, and probability required careful calculation.

The two-mark and three-mark sections tested conceptual understanding. Coordinate geometry questions focused on distance and section formulas, while algebra covered topics such as zeroes of polynomials and forming quadratic equations. Trigonometry questions required multi-step simplifications using identities and value-based problem solving.

Geometry also played an important role, especially from chapters like Triangles and Circles. These questions demanded logical application of theorems rather than shortcuts. Students attempting the Basic paper noted that the number of steps involved made the exam feel time-consuming.

The long-answer and case-study sections were more complex as they combined multiple concepts. Problems related to heights and distances required trigonometric interpretation, while statistics questions involved constructing tables and calculating measures such as median and mode. All these questions often take considerable time during an exam.

This is where AI's advantage became evident. ChatGPT solved these multi-step problems quickly and without calculation errors, completing in seconds what students would normally take up to three hours to finish.

How To Get Accurate Math Solutions From ChatGPT?

While ChatGPT is capable of solving mathematical problems efficiently, the accuracy of its answers often depends on how clearly the question is presented. If a problem is vague, incomplete, or lacks proper structure, the response may not be fully reliable.

To improve accuracy:

•Use clear action words such as "solve," "find," or "calculate."
•Ask the AI to "show all steps" if you need detailed working.
•Request it to "think step-by-step" for multi-layered problems.
•Mention the method you want used, such as factorisation, substitution, or formula method, especially in algebra.
•Specify units wherever necessary to avoid misinterpretation.
•Break complex questions into smaller parts instead of asking everything at once.
•If the question includes diagrams or case-based data, describe them clearly in words.
