The prices of petrol and diesel remain unchanged on Tuesday across metro cities for over a month now. Earlier last month on May 21 finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a cut in excise duty on petrol and diesel.

She announced an excuse duty cut on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel, respectively.

As on Tuesday, June 28 petrol costs Rs 96.72 per litre while diesel costs Rs 89.62 per litre in Delhi. In Mumbai, the price of one litre of petrol stands at Rs 111.35 per litre and diesel price is recorded at Rs 97.28 per litre.
Prices of petrol and diesel are highest in metropolitan city Mumbai when compared with the other three metropolitan cities. The price varies in all the cities as a result of implementation of Value-Added Tax or VAT.
India important approximately 85% of its crude oil requirements and thus the domestic fuel prices have been directly linked to global fuel prices.
The prices of oil surged nearly 1% in early trade today in international markets in early trade today. Brent crude futures rose $1.08 to $116.17 a barrel.
The prices of petrol and diesel continue to remain same as on June 24, 2022 in Bangalore and Lucknow. The leading Oil Marketing Companies have taken the decision to keep the price steady.
It is worth noting that public sector oil marketing companies including Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) update fuel rates everyday in order to keep in line with benchmark global prices and foreign exchange rates. In case of any changes in the fuel prices, it gets implemented at 6 AM everyday.
