Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai commended the launch of Vikram, India's first indigenous microprocessor, at Semicon India 2025. This achievement underscores India's commitment to technological self-reliance and innovation in semiconductor manufacturing.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the unveiling of India's first homegrown 32-bit microprocessor, Vikram, at a conclave in New Delhi. He described it as a significant step in the nation's quest for technological independence. The launch, which took place at Semicon India 2025, highlights India's innovation capabilities and self-reliance.

The microprocessor was developed entirely with indigenous technology and is intended for use in ISRO's space launch vehicles. This development not only bolsters India's space technology but also showcases the country's technological strength on a global scale. Sai attributed this achievement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership and commitment to establishing an Atmanirbhar Bharat, or self-reliant India.
Technological Self-Reliance and Global Impact
Sai emphasized that the rapid progress in semiconductor manufacturing is a crucial milestone towards India's vision of becoming a developed nation. He credited the success to the dedication of young engineers and the scientific community. The indigenous microprocessor signifies India's emergence as both a consumer and a manufacturer, positioning it as a global technology leader.
The breakthrough is expected to accelerate initiatives like Digital India, Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat. The processor will have applications beyond space research, extending into defence, communication, and other advanced technology sectors. Sai asserted that this is a revolutionary step towards making India technologically self-reliant and economically robust.
Prime Minister Modi's Visionary Leadership
An official statement quoted Sai saying, "The achievement is a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership and the resolve of establishing an Atmanirbhar Bharat self-reliant India." He further noted that this accomplishment underscores India's capacity for innovation and self-reliance.
Sai highlighted that the launch of Vikram marks a new chapter in India's technological history. It stands as proof of the nation's ability to innovate and achieve self-reliance in critical technology sectors. The processor's development is a testament to India's growing prowess in semiconductor manufacturing.
This advancement will not only strengthen India's position in space technology but also establish its technological prowess on the global stage. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this achievement would further accelerate national initiatives aimed at enhancing technological independence and economic strength.
